Piece of Cake

Description

From the Rifle Mtn Park Guidebook (2013):

"This line-of-least-resistance bypasses

Slice of Life's

burly crux and is the line most climbed. From the finger eating slot atop the groove, make a short traverse left. then join

Zulu

;for a move or two before drifting back right to regain

Slice of Life

.

When Bobbi Bensman- fresh off the FFA

Slice of Life

  • heard that Don Welsh had discovered this variation, she was so upset she vowed to remove the offending holds. Fortunately, she slept on it, and a calmer head prevailed."

Of the 3 route options that share the same opening 9 bolts,

Piece of Cake

is arguably the most fun, with friendly grips, and a toe-hook-to-jump combo to gain the

Zulu

holds. The top is the redpoint crux, with multiple options of tackling the final V4/5 boulder that guards the chains. It is lower in the grade compared to

Slice

of Life

or

Piece of Zulu.

Location

Climb the first 9 bolts of

Slice of Life

, clip left, climb left onto

Zulu

, and then straight up and a little right to regain

Slice of Life

.

Protection

13 bolts + anchors.
