Herman Boulder

The Herman Boulder is just to the right of the Boxcar Boulder on the carriage road in the Gunks. It has a large bowl-shaped scoop in the middle.

Three problems: Fly Like an Ego V9, Yo-Yo Ma V4, and Herman V0, were the first to be established on the Herman Boulder. These problems can be found in Ivan Greene's guide book.

In late 2012, the large, main face of the boulder was found to be totally covered in lichen, with wild plant growth on top of the boulder. The face was cleaned, and three new lines were established: Blood Moon V2, Harvest Moon V2, and Death Star V5.
