Lightning Crack

Description

A vertical splitter that ascends the main rock face next to a wide blocky pillar.  Pillar also forms a crack on its backside against the main wall that parallels the main crack at a 90 deg angle.  Transfer onto top of that tall pillar when the main crack jogs left.  Continue upward as crack turns straight up again.  Nice hand jams, finishing with big cups.  There's a live big tree with a hole through its trunk recessed about 8 ft from the topout lip.  Lots of ants on that tree recently, tho hadn't noticed that before.

Location

On the narrow E face btwn the SE easy cracks and Overhang Crack on the N face.  Easier to rap in from the top usually, onto a tight slot of a ledge just beneath a big tree, the higher of two ledges above the water.  If water low enough, could prob hand carry rope and gear to wade across to the lowest ledge, scramble up, dry feet with a towel or shirt, and climb.

Protection

Double cams to 3.5", natural anchor with optional gear.
