Description
This ascends a pretty, little arete you can sneak around onto from inside the Jericho alcove. The bottom half protects adequately with medium to large cams (Camalot #2, 3, & 4), and the top half is a fun, easy, but unprotected arete. You can pretend you're on the last pitch of
Yellow Spur
.... ;)
Begin either with deep, vertical cracks right on the bulgy arete (brushy and awkward) or use big cracks and flakes on the right wall (inside the Jericho base area) to move up and "around the corner" onto the arete above the bushes. After that, you'll feel like a sweepstakes winner moving up the runout-but-solid arete above. Building an anchor up top might be difficult.
This could make a nice first pitch to
Mike's Dihedral
, which lies just above.
Location
On the left edge of the base area of Jericho, leave the ground a few steps left of
The Horns of Jericho
, the obvious bolted line in the middle of the smooth wall.
Protection
A few medium cams or solo.
