Watkins Pinnacle SE arête. Wilderness approach to a hard 5.12 slab to excellent 5.11 cracks to summit. Equipped for rappell with bolted anchors. A good but fresh wilderness crack climb, similar but longer and sunnier than the Rostrum.
The entry slab pitch is hard.
The marquis arete crack pitch is classic.
the Black Crack is wide but cool especially if your sneakers are taped on.
The Summit has magnificent ambience
Location
SE Arête of Watkins Pinnacle, 200 m west of Watkins South Face original route.
Protection
3 sets cams including large ones for the Black Corner 5.10 *** ow and the shorter, easier upper off width 5.11d. Mostly hands and fingers otherwise. SS bolts at belays.
