The Bullfighter

FA (TR, upper crux) Todd Swain, October 1990, First Lead: Bob Gaines, Todd Gordon, and Tommy Romero, May 1996.

Description

Same start as Death In The Afternoon (which shares the same first bolt).

Stick-clip the first bolt, then crank the crux moves (11b). At a small overlap move right and up to a second bolt (5.10), climb past a third bolt (11a/b) up to the top. A 1-inch CD is useful for a directional near the top.

Protection

To 1.5 inches, including several 1-inch CDs.

The start has been led without stick-clipping the bolt, on thin gear, but falling before the bolt is clipped would be a dicey proposition. Another option is to use a piece or two to aid up and clip the bolt, then lower down and fire through the lower crux (11 b/c) with confidence.

2-bolt anchor, 80-foot rap.
